Dear Ms. Charulatha Mani,
ReplyDeleteThe presentation in this segment is so beautiful. The selection of songs and the way they were rendered was simply great. Even though I have no knowledge of carnatic music and ragas, it was a pleasure to listen to them which made me very happy.
Thank you.

I am a regular reader of your colunns " A Raga's Journey" in The
ReplyDeleteHindu. I am fascinated by your particulars which shows deep study not only of the ragas but their subtle applications in the Tamil films as well as in Hindi.I was surprised by your interest in Hindi films as well. I am your silent rasika from early days and am watching your progress in the musical world. You have fulfilled that one vital gap
that contemporary musicians did not touch that of the relationship between the film music directors of films and the carnatic music. Please continue your good work.
I hope you will deal with the Music of Naushad Ali and Madan Mohan who
are my favourites. I am not trained in music but can imitate Saigal's
songs. My favourite ragas are Karaharapriya(played on slow mode),Mohanam,ReetiGowla, Subhapantuvarali and Varali.
Regards,
Dr. R.R. Ayyar.

Dear Charulatha,
ReplyDeleteI am an Italian musician, who's been fascinated by Karnatic music during a sojourn in India (where I learnt some Sanskrit). I would like to buy your Sri Subrahmanyo CD (no Mp3), but I can't find a link tothe cart in your website. Could you send me an invoice on paypal (same email address). By the way I'd be glad to send you one of my cds, if you're interested (I perform Baroque music in a small ensemble).
Thank you so much and Best Wishes from Italy
Andrea

Hi Ms. Charulatha,
ReplyDeleteI love all your videos and enjoy how you carefully stress on details and categorize various songs according to ragas. The collection is very versatile.
Good luck!
