    I will check the Hindu, but does this invitation have a price? If not, you could mention it here. Not having a price (or having a low price) is actually an USP :)

    Congratulations on the debut at Music Academy!
    I will miss it though.
    I enjoyed the ones on Pantuvarali , Kalyani etc. U could have touched on the melakarta classification and dwelt on the similarities and differences between Pantuvarali and Purvikalyani for example.Just some thoughts which came to my mind. Take them or leave them!

    My debut at the Music Academy was several years ago :-) I give the same respect to any auditorium, be it the Academy or anywhere else. Music is divine..

    Sincere Best Wishes for todays event. Happy for your breakthrough into these citadels of classical music, of the Isaipayanam concept combining film music, along with your serial of ‘A Raga's Journey’ in The Hindu, . It is a breakthrough even though you rightly treat all venues equally.

I have to identify it!!!!

Dear Rasika, The wonderful thing about Ragas in the Indian Classical music system is that they are unique, and each one of them have something that is typically only associated with them, that which is irreplaceable. It is easy to fool an average listener in a little game of "Identify the raga" in a post-dinner Carnatic music party, and chuckle as he identifies a Sri raga as a Madhyamavati or a Pharas as a Mayamalavagowla..but how many of us self-confessed aficionados of this great system really have a fool-proof method of unambiguously identifying, each time, every time, the raga correctly? I doubt very many of us do, and this includes the smug critic or the know-it-all mama-mami duo next door.
