Vidvan Sri. T.R. Subramaniam

Vidvan Sri. T.R. Subramaniam, TRS as he was called in the musical fraternity, was a beacon of knowledge, a powerhouse of positivity, a creative force, an enthusiastic teacher, and one who welcomed novel ideas in Carnatic Music. He was a maverick, an adventurer, a young person at heart, and even at his demise day before yesterday at the age of 88, he leaves us feeling contented that he was there to oversee our musical activities for all these years and guide us in several sahitya and raga related issues.
He was a regular at Isai Payanam concerts, his humour filled speeches were delightful, and was even a guest at the Lalgudi Jayaranam tribute concert I presented in May. He spoke on the occasion (see link below). He was a man with conviction, backed up by a thorough knowledge of the subject and languages. May his soul rest in peace.

  1. It only speak about his gesture of appreciating with sincerity. The Mand raga must have been sung so superbly then only you can get such a humourous comment from TRS. Even his speeches on Raga and any topics on Music was inspiring and crisp. May be music lovers keep remembering TRS all the time
