Rama Navami concert - 24th March, at Sringeri Bharati Vidyashram

It was the auspicious occasion of Sri Rama Navami, the birth of Lord Sri Ramachandra. I performed at Sringeri Bharati Vidyashram, the Sharadambal Temple at T. Nagar for this occasion.
The pieces I sang were:
Jaya Jaya - Nattai (Purandaradasa)
Saraseeruhasana - Nattai
Manavinala kincharadhate - Nalinakanti
Ra Rama - Asaveri
Thamarai Poo Mevum - Saraswati
Brocheva - Khamas
Intha Sowkhya - Kapi
Narahari Deva - Yamunakalyani
Nenana Mein Siyaram - Lalith - Tulsi Bhajan
Sangeeta Rasike - Saranga
Thillana - Maand
Mangalam.

This was followed by special darshan and puja, a memorable concert. I was accompanied by B Anantakrishnan on the violin, S. J. Arjun Ganesh on Mridangam and Sundar on Morsing.

    Hope you had good and nice concert on Ramanavami Day. I think it is the duty of every Caratic musician to have a concert on these important days Ramanvami(Rama), Panguni Utharam(Muruga)
    Maha Sivarathri(Siva) and Vaikunda Ekadasi(Vishnu) as bakthi and our music go together. Of all the festivals Sri Ramanavami is much more important not only because of Thiyagaraja but also due to the fact that NamAzhwar said  " கறà¯�à®ÂªÃ ®¾Ã ®°Ã ¯�
    à®Å½Ã ®²Ã ¯�லாமà¯� இராà®® à®ÂªÃ ®¿Ã ®°Ã ®¾Ã ®©Ã ¯� அனà¯�றி கறà¯�à®ÂªÃ ®°Ã ¯‹"Â

    Â poosai means cat. just as a cat tried to lick the entire Thirupparkadal I tried this venture of writing this Raama kathai

    We enjoyed your Kucheri yesterday at the Sringeri Matam and appreciated your patience and involvement in the puja that followed your concert for Goddess Sharadha devi.
    Your style of introduction before each song is very nice and a laudable one!

I have to identify it!!!!

Dear Rasika, The wonderful thing about Ragas in the Indian Classical music system is that they are unique, and each one of them have something that is typically only associated with them, that which is irreplaceable. It is easy to fool an average listener in a little game of "Identify the raga" in a post-dinner Carnatic music party, and chuckle as he identifies a Sri raga as a Madhyamavati or a Pharas as a Mayamalavagowla..but how many of us self-confessed aficionados of this great system really have a fool-proof method of unambiguously identifying, each time, every time, the raga correctly? I doubt very many of us do, and this includes the smug critic or the know-it-all mama-mami duo next door. Lets face it - there are many factors that go into identifying a raga - the musical intelligence of the person who is playing or singing in the specimen recording, the level of sophistication of the music system, the extent of deafness of the listener or the lack of it, peer pressur
