  2. A few days back I had the occasion to witness the movie " Vettaikkaran" on a very chilly day in NY with snow steadily falling. I was really surprised to find that one number in that film was done by you, the Music director being Vijay Antony. To quote Oliver GoldSmith, "I gazed and gazed and the wonder grew", how this lady Charulatha mani a Carnatic music singer who can render a Kalyani or Sangaraaparanam with ease and with zero tolerence(to say in enigneering jargon) can do this kuthu paatu, uchi mandai). I was talking to my friend at Chennai next day who confirmed it and he wanted to go over to your Home Page if I had any doubt. And then I surfed the net to locate www.charulathamani.com and to my surprise it was you!

My thought went back and recollected that the very same MLV the popular Carnatic Music singer and who had done such melodies like Konjum Puraave and kathaiyai kelada and best Shanmugapriya in "Aadal Kaaneero in Mathurai veeran" had also sung "Ayyaasamy" not a kuthu pattu but a gypsy number) in addition to a very unpopular one(Vaanga vanga neenga tickettu vaanga vanga in RaajaaRani, a 1955 release starring Sivaji,SSR NSK) So it is very common for a good classical music singer to cut a cinema disc like Bombay JayaSri and Nithyasri
and Uniikrishnan also Anuradha Sriram. I definitely know that all of you had no necessity to go and knock at the doors of Cinema Industry because you had already
obtained a good standing in the classical field and naturally it is the turn of the Film Music directors to extend an invitation. It is the order of the day and there should be no objection to it " Riding two horses at a time" as the proverb goes is a tough task and to my mind you are doing it correctly.

I see the happy faces of young boys and girls merrily laughing and clapping hands when you sing this number. Kudos. I am yet to listen to Kaaka in Naan Avanillai

2.coming to your Isai payanam comparison of Carnatic and film numbers, even though I had listened to the radio version of "Sangeeth
Sarithaa in which they would introduce two identical ragas of Hindustani and Carnatic
coupled with film songs and more recent one by Kumbakonam MRGopinath and VL Kumar ( I heard it last year whcn I was at chennai ) Yours is
far superior because while MRK<VLK version is based on Violin yours is based on vocal
and video song sequences. Because of my shuttling between Chennai and NY every year I had missed it in Jaya TV and now I had the opportunity thanks You Tube

    3. Your Carnatic Music: I had the misfortune of remaining in New York during December season and June th' August at Chennai for some years I had listened to to your concert in two or three occasions when I was at Chennai during
the December in Partha swamy Sabha and a number of times on AIR when at Chennai and also at NY on Radio Time AIR FM Rainbow. Keep it up,
    With best wishes,

    Jagannathan, New York
